Scalford Hall is a conference centre situated near Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire. Its extensive lawns and woodland make it an ideal venue for this beginners' digital photography course. The birds of prey available as 'models' - Great Grey Owl, Harris Hawk, Barn Owl, etc. - provide a unique opportunity to learn and improve your photography and get up close to the birds.
The course is designed for owners of Digital Single Lens Reflex cameras who wish to learn more about digital photography and improve their picture taking ability. Students will learn how to gain the most from basic camera controls, how to use digital files to best advantage, how to compose and expose pictures etc. and have the opportunity for some of the images to be printed during the day.
Students do not need to have top of the range equipment or long telephoto lenses to produce great pictures. The birds will be close and one to one tuition will help you make the most of the photographic equipment you already have.
The course will start with light refreshments from 09:30 until 10:00 and then be a mixture of theory inputs followed by the opportunity to put the theory into practice. Students' will have exclusive access to the birds free from the general public and gain insights into the lives of the birds from the Falconer. A variety of birds will used as subjects ranging from small to the large. Birds will be both static and in flight. Lunch and afternoon tea will be provided. The course will conclude at approximately 16:45.
A number of birds may be available during the day – Harris Hawk, Barn Owl, Kestrel, Lanner, Sanker & Peregrines Falcons, Barred & Great Grey Owls, Eagle Owl etc.
